Seth’s Personal Memoirs – Entry 1

I do not know where to begin. War is coming and I am afraid there is nothing I can do to stop it. Like so many other tales I guess I will start from the beginning.

We managed to escape from the Orcs and the Rat king, only to be captured in Waterdeep. It seems the order of Black Robes came down to aid Waterdeep in there time of need. It appeared to me that the Black Robes were taking control over a once free city of Waterdeep. Fortunate for us the Steward set us free, and told us that he saw us leave with the ambassador. He said we were taking him to our homelands for the gathering. We knew then that we had to get home as soon as possible.

That is when I remember that we left the scrolls Kristole had in his charge at Waterdeep. Kristoles, Prfen, and I went back into the town to retrieve the scroll. The order was there searching for us, they use special devices to detect us. I barley made it out, I own Prefen much gratitude for his part in my escape.

Once outside Mirzam summon mighty steeds and we rode hard to get back to our homelands. This is where things went downhill from here. The horse disappeared as we approached the outskirts of our homelands. Both Mirzam and I tumbled hard and ate much dirt that day. All the others manage to land safely on their feet. Mirzam tried as he might could not cast his special rope, then I tried a few melodies and nothing happened.

We rested the night to plot our next move. At daybreak we search around and came across a pillar erected to the god Eru. It was that pillar that was blocking our gifts. Prfen almost lost his arm just by touching it. I remember stories of a demon destroying a pillar like this, but I could not remember what he did. Besides it was a demon, I am sure it had far more power at its disposal that we do.

We search around until we came across a fishing village that was being run by women. All the men of fighting age were gone off to fight. Viscoth soldiers patrol the town. We then left for a fort we saw in the distance. Our goal was to get horses to ride out of this dead zone. I saw the fort and the blood lust over came me again. Who were these soldiers to defile our land? I wanted revenge and so we attacked the fort. The battle did not go very well. The monk and I were to steal the horse while Larthin and Saelndar were to provide us a distraction.

I managed to free two horses but I could not make it out of the fort with the horses. So instead I left them behind and went back to join up with the party. I healed Larthin and discuss a new plan with Mirzam. Around the witching hour I left to try and get horses again from the fort. This time I relied on my forked tongue. I manage to get a horse, but I should mention that the commander was a cunning one.

What transpires next is disheartening. After I manage to get a horse we decided to get a wagon to carry all of us. As we approach the outskirts of the fishing village once more, Mirzam wanted me to get the wagon and come back. So to improve my chances I told everyone to wait here. Larthin wanted to go take care of some business in the town. I told him that we didn’t have time for that and for him to remain there. He then said it would not take him that long to which I replied that if he was not here when I return that I would leave him. He shook his head and said fine, and like the wind I was off in search of a wagon.

I found a wagon filled with fish. I was in the process of cleaning it off when two Viscoth patrol guards approached. They asked me what was I doing, before I could respond we all heard a scream. Running around the house was Larthin. The guards looked at him then looked at me. Wasting no time to turn the situation to my favor and yelled at the guards to get him. They both attacked him with their might pole-arms. Larthin fell to the might of the guards, who were then retreated for their lives at the awesome sight of Mirzam on the magical steed.

The monk aided me in getting the wagon attached to the horse and we rode a good distance out of town. As we traveled Mirzam tied up Larthin. It was then Mirzam leaned over and told me that we should try to make it to the gathering. It made since, the others were dead weight. Larthin was near death. I would not use my gifts to heal someone who could not simple follow orders. What was so important in that town that he would jeopardize our mission?

Now Mirzam and I ride. We shall ride this horse until it can not carry us anymore. I hope by then we can reach the gathering in time. If not then maybe I need to play the chant to call forth the messenger. I dread that thought however.
