They were everywhere as they swarmed us. I took two shots at the vampire spawn that Kreigos wounded. I then moved towards Frost and tell Vornagust to make a tight defensive formation.

Frost cause the light to appear bright as the sun and Vonragust begins to radiate holy might as he prayed to his god. The creatures rushed us attacking everyone but Gertrde. Even with the light bright as the sun they still pressed the attack. Ander calls forth a wall of light as the room becomes even brighter.

I slung my bow back on my back and withdrew my Great sword. I attacked the vampire spawn next to Vornagust and destroyed it. I then proceed to push forward and engage the blinded vampire piercing it but not killing it.

I was swarmed by bat, insects, and a vampire. We still fought on against overwhelming odds. Ander called forth more magics causing lighting to spurt forward and wipe out a lot of bats and insects. I took out another swarm of bats as well as another vampire spawn.

On this day everyone pulled their weight and fought with supreme efficiency. More vampire spawns emerged and attacked Vornagust and I.

I saw the animated armor that was crackling with energy, I lined up the shot but before taking it I could sense the spawn behind me ready to pounce. Taking the roll of commander I commanded Vornagust to strike again at the spawn behind me so that I could not take the shot. Vornagust did not disappoint and slaughter the spawn. I then took the shot and manage to knock the animated armor down. Frost commanded the hammer to pound it destroying it.

We were doing so well and had them at bay. We all heard it someone called us cowards hiding behind the pillar of light. That is when we felt it intense heat and fire engulfed us burning our bodies. Caine made the heroic sacrifice to shield Gertude who would not have survived the blast.

That vampire had to die. Ander brings down the wall of light and Caine rushes to attack the vampire spell caster. He hits with a flurry of blows and I supported him with a surge of five arrows . I then commanded Caine to attack again which he did stunning the creature.

Kriegois manage to finish the caster off which had the look of disblief as he was oblitrated and only a pile of ash remain in his stead. We wiped the remaining vampires and creepy crawling and were greeted by ravens that were shocked of our progress.

They informed us they were watching our progress but were afraid to approach the castle as it could mean death for them. They were wanting to help us as we are the closet thing that has brought destruction upon Strahd’s empire. We asked them to take Gertude to safety as we continue to wage our war with Strahd.

We need to rest but we do not have them time. I go over the battle in my mind and feel better about our performance. I just hope it is enough to end this monster once and for all.
