The scout showed us the way to Lung’s tower, he then informed us that we had arrived. Before we could do anything our guide was lifted up and bite in half by a giant tree. His dead carcass was dropped to the ground revealing that it was a shape-shifter.
A battle occurred where the master dwarf and the tree fought each other. Everyone else jumped into the battle. I tried to plead with the tree; I did not want to disrespect my cousin’s forest. I saw Fei’yin engaged a tree and I knew he had the sight. The battle raged on and Lothar looked as if he was about to die and the trees were advancing on him. I deduced that if he appeared dead maybe the trees would look over him. I commanded him to die, which really only put him into a slumber. I am sure he will be upset later for my actions.
After the trees were taken care of I went and carefully put one of the shape-shifters back together. I then performed a ritual that allowed me to speak with the dead. I asked it how I can detect it. It merely answered in a cryptic fashion that we should look for its disguise. I then asked was it taking us to Lungs tower and the answer was yes.
We rested for the night and before we fell asleep a vile demon came up. It handed Haacker a note then as Haacker read it, the note flared up. He threw it at the creatures and said it was nothing. The creature remained with us for the remainder of the night.
The next day we marched on to Lung’s castle. We came across a Medusa, rather large chickens, and some thick hided creatures. We all stood staring at the garden of stone statues. The statues were of various races and most of them had the look of terror on their faces. I withdrew the short bow and aimed at the Medusa. I knew she done this and I sought to end her life. She waved her hand and beckons us to come and solve the riddle.
The master dwarf Haacker ran up and tried to solve it. He guesses incorrectly twice and was surrounded and attacked. We fought the creatures Lothar and Vorath bows help, Fei’yin and I fought as well. When the battle was over only the dwarf and I remained on our feet. Vorath had been changed into a statue Lothar and Fei’yin lay unconscious.
The little vile demon came and wanted to kill Fei’yin. May Ceplar forgive me for I could not save Fei’yin. One of the demons managed to deliver the death blow to Fei’yin before Haacker or I could stop it. I withdrew Fei’yin sword and slashed one of them in half. Haacker killed the other one.
Haacker wanted to sever Fei’yin head and keep it for later. His logic was that he could resurrect him later. Instead I used the Medusa’s head to turn him into stone to preserve the body until we could figure out what to do.
The grey shape-shifter then approached and hailed us. They wanted their friend back, of course we wanted to know what friend. They pointed at Vorath, I knew he was not right and now I had my proof. They also told me that in exchange for their friend they would give use the real Vorath back.
Haacker and I asked if the could restore Fei’yin as well. The told us one or the other unless of course we did them a favor. The favor would be to give them the box when we retrieve it. That was not an option, so we were still faced with the fact of Fei’yin or Vorath. Lothar woke up and cast his vote for Vorath. Haacker and I sided with Fei’yin.
They poured liquid on Vorath and Fei’yin and they both came back to life. We were then asked a favor, Vorath the shape-shifter wanted to accompany us. I did not want him to join us. He rebuked me saying that he came to my aid when I fell in battle. It was then that I realize that it would not be so bad if he did join us. At least this way we could keep and eye on him and Vorath’s equipment.
