The players are charge with recovering the remains of Steon a fallen adventure and resident of Abilene.
I could not be more satisfied with this adventure as it provide a discussion about what happens to adventures when they fall in battle. The party was divide on whether or not it was ethical to recover remains and move them once buried.
The question was raised as to what happens with a players belongings once they expire. I was really shocked at how people had wishes as to what happens to their belongings but no one ever took the time to discuss how their wishes are honor.
There was good role-playing for the discussion and I felt one of my goals had been achieved.
The consensus was to retrieve the remains of Steon and the remains of Esmeralda’s husband. The party awoken in a shack besiege by undead. My players engage the undead and eventually had to retreat back to the litte shack.
I am truly amazed at the level of team work my players show. They have a synergy about them where the complement each other. Eventually the uncover Steon gave his life to protect two children. The priest gave Steon last rites and the party vowed to take the children to Abilene for safety.
The party then proceed to make haste and return to Abilene. They manage to get lost but eventually get their bearings and proceed home. They stop at an inn on their way home.
Here I was able to have some fun by providing the party with both a menu and drink list. It brought a smile to my face to see how cheap my players are when it comes to money. The inn was very upscale and my players barked at how expensive the remaining two rooms were.
In the middle of the night a scream was heard and the players investigate. An Orc of wealth laid slain in his bed. The local guards were called and locked down the entire inn while they investigate.
I had an amazing time with this session as the chief guard investigated everyone and separated them for questioning. I was surprised at how consistent each of the party members were.
Here are a few highlights
- Created a gambling game for a PC
- Intrigue and murder at a inn
- High price inn which pained the players
low points
- Still a few rules I struggle with, which can bog down the game
- Ran out of time
When we start up again the players will have to contend with the investigation. I look forward to our next session 🙂
